And So It Begins

Today is the day I finally get around to starting my blog. This is my first blog and I am all written-out from college essays so please excuse my lack of clever bloggy-ness.
After much deliberation I decided to tackle the foreign territory of yoga for my senior project. Although to most this appears a a slacker project, to me it is anything but. I for one, am not flexible at all. Being tall my entire life has led to a syndrome I like to call tallness syndrome. This means I am all flail-y and can't touch my toes without cheating. Additionally the only thing I knew about yoga before I started my project was that my comfy Lululemon pants were originally made for yogis (Is that the appropriate term?). So as you can see I had quite a lot to learn and a lot to do in order to achieve my ultimate goal of flexibility and knowledge.
I am going to be totally honest with you and admit that I did not think about my senior project for the entire summer. I didn't start my project until the end of September. In the last week of September I didn't have much homework and decided to put my extra time towards my senior project. Not wanting to make the trip to the library I decided to pop in a Yoga dvd and attempt to follow my first yoga session. I used P90X- YogaX. And boy was it hard. I ran the DVD for an hour and spent half of my time in the Child's Pose. Child's Pose is by far the most comfiest and best thing I have ever experienced. If all yoga is like this then I am SO looking forward to my classes. However the other 30 minutes I was doing the yoga were so difficult. I didn't think I would work up a sweat, but I was definitely wrong. After struggling through the poses I did feel great! I can tell yoga is going to be a great introduction to a way to maintain life-long health.
Two weeks ago I went on a check out book rampage at the library and got a lot of Yoga books. I'm still working my way through them. But they are very insightful! I will save my thoughts for another post. Namaste! (Soon I will find out what that means!)
